It strikes me that this had probably been going on for a while.
They knew how much money was in the float and they knew when to check it.
I've no sympathy with people who short change a charity. He doesn't deserve sacking but a rap on the knuckles yes.

Yes, but does it need a four day hearing? Seen to be doing something perhaps?

Call him in, give him the choice of stumping up the 90p then give him a verbal. If he refuses make it a written and put him on notice.

What he did was despicable and wrong and he should be punished, but an "official" hearing!
