UK Postage Stamps

Postby TheOstrich » 10 Feb 2022, 19:50

In case you haven't seen it, there are changes afoot with Royal Mail. Basically a new type of bar-coded stamp is being introduced (after a successful trial) and all your current stamps will no longer be valid from 31st January 2023.
You will be able to "swap" old style stamps starting from March 2022, but as I understand it, this will need to be done through the post accompanied by a special form, not at post offices. The Royal Mail's relevant website page isn't up and running yet, so watch this space.

So all those of us who have bought stamps in bulk before the annual prices increases, and still have them hanging around .....

A couple of news items:

The hysterical one - Daily Express

Have seen it.I only buy a book of stamps as I don't send many letters now.
I take birthday cards to the post office to make sure they have the correct stamp on as some are big.
Supposed to be more efficient for Royal Mail to sort and track the envelopes.
But cannot be tracked by members of the public. Why not in this modren day and age. Couriers can do it with parcels.

Oh great, a postage stamp that plays music, videos and / or messages and just happens to be a method of tracking who sends what, where and when. It is so open to abuse it is unbelievable.

All I want is something that says to postie that I have paid the price to send the item - that's it - that's all I and postie need.
