Oh dear me, big sighs

Postby JanB » 24 May 2024, 21:05

Grumpy had an appointment for an eye cataract for tomorrow morning, in Faro, which is about an hour and a half away.

We always, but always. have a phone call, the day before, to remind us.

Nuffin, nada, zilch.

So he starts worrying, as he does.

I rang the hospital, spent ages waiting and eventually get through, to be sent off to another line. Which rings, stops.

I tried another three times, getting more and more peed orf, this being a private hospital.

On my fourth attempt, I get through to a very lovely young lady, who said that the appointment was for 5.30, not 9.20  :o Really? that late on a Saturday?

Bugger it, was my first thought. It's Jan and Joachina's wedding anniversary tomorrow and although she was happy to take us in the morning, no way would she do it at that time.

So I rang the hospital again, to cancel the whole thing.

Your husband's time is for 9.20 tomorrow morning, although operation won't be at that actual time.

As Jan said, this is Portugal, you should be used to it by now.

I spent an hour and a half on the phone, ran out of money on his phone, battery on mine and I'm not happy.

Neither is he, he'll be having words with Dr Gasper tomorrow, if it does go ahead.

Sorry, mini rant over

Jan, it seems the client / customer communication in Portugal is not that much different from the UK. Phone up, press this, press that, speak with someone WFH who is not fully connected, line goes dead. Go again, and again.

Modern life!
