Me: a shower, hair tweaked, mascara, lippy, shorts, vest, Converse..I'm good to go. Time: 25 minutes.
Don: shave..20 minutes a shower, (no hair to tweak ) deciding what to wear 15 minutes footwear choice..a further 10 minutes flippin heck (I'm being polite!) he's changed his shorts which means a change of footwear! Time: 45 minutes.
I blame the media and the cosmetics companies. The pressure to look perfect is enormous.
We have this shave gel or that shave foam. Is it this razor that one? To moisturise or not to moisturise? Which aftershave, or is it an eau de toilette day? Gelled hair or polished bonce? Is it roll-on or deo bar time? Does this shirt go with these trousers, these sock, these shoes? Decisions, decisions!
Gone are the days when a scrape and a splash from which bottle is nearest are long gone - even if it was mouthwash.
John really CBA with all of that. He gets dressed in whatever he grabs out of the drawer, does nothing to his hair (it's very short, and disappearing) and that's him ready to go. Shoes on and he's out of the door.
Tom, on the other hand, drives me crazy! Even if I ask him if he wants to go over the common with me and Billy I can be waiting up to half an hour for him. John also drives me crazy because he expects me to be ready and out in 2 minutes flat - if he can do it then so should I
