A terrible thing

has happened here in the city, over the Bank Holiday, a double murder of mother and 11 Year old daughter. Reading between the lines (and according to what Mick has heard unofficially from local rumour, including his friend on the council) the man they've arrested is the husband Mick knows the dad/granddad from school, and believes he knows the culprit's dad too

What on earth gets into men who do this? Gloucester is a city, but in many ways is a small town, in that everyone knows everyone else, and there is a sense of shock today.....

There are two other children who have not only lost their mum and sister, but effectively their dad too.
