I have been offered a flat in a semi sheltered accommodation complex just a few hundred metres up the road. It is ground floor, so easier on my back problems, and is all-inclusive.

It has a community hub, café, games room and reading room. It has off-road parking and enclosed gardens for sitting out. Wi-Fi everywhere and digital keys. I have a viewing on Tuesday.

My decision is already made - I'm in.

Osc, up front it will be more, but against that the heating and hot hot water is included, as is the Wi-Fi. I will not need a landline or broadband, so that's a saving, but the general service charge for the other stuff then comes in to play. Overall it is not much more than my private rent, but I will be part of a community rather than just a neighbour.

My friend Pam from aquafit lives in such a flat WM, it’s perfect for her and I’m sure it’ll be ideal for you! One thing she mentioned, hers is a fairly new building and as such, extremely well insulated!! She hardly ever needs the heating on
