Suff,
You have been very lucky. I came off my bike many years ago a few times but at slow speeds. Only got slight bruising. Some were on ice in winter.
Was driving a Mini which overturned several times when I hit a patch of black ice. This was before seat belts were fitted. It was oin the early 1960's.
Have you tried Arnica gel. It helps with bruising and if applied quickly, can stop the bruise becoming coloured.
I had a fall recently on one of our cruises. I hit my right shoulder on a metal column. I still have a small lump on the top of the shoulder.
No bones broken, but it was several days before I got full movement of my arm. Mrs. e had to put my socks and shirt on. Very amusing at times.

Hi Cruiser, yes I was lucky. I have pretty fast reactions which helped but the mirrors on the new bike are set so far in, for commuting, that I have to move my whole body to get a good view behind. Could have been so much worse, the vehicle in front was a square sided MPV. That would have hurt, a lot, especially with the pack hammering me into it.

I was wearing two jackets so the top of my body is really only aching a bit (worse as the day goes on), but the real shock was the hip and top of the thigh. The bike has sliders on the front, but the back has very slim panniers and I hit the ground before the back of the bike did.

The Kevlar really did the job and bruising is really quite minimal. So no need for Arnica. I know about it because the French use it a lot and Mrs S keeps some as she bruises very easily.

That's another of my 9 lives. Believe me the calm before landing on a concrete floor, having fallen from 3m, is no fun and the stop hurt one hell of a lot more.

Rolling a mini without seat belts though. That is not a happy thought. Must have hurt a lot.

Going to leave work soon, pick up my stuff from Argos and head for bed.

What is it with us silly old sods and motorbikes?

When I immediately got up from my accident I was just sore because of the adrenaline rush, then in the morning..........

Suff, I hope you heal quickly, very quickly, and that there are no complications. DYK that If you take co-codamol as your oral painkiller you can alternate voltarol and ibuprofen gels for local pain?

Thanks WM.

I'm progressing. 400mg of ibuprofen every 4 hours. Voltarol as I need it. I have bought some deep heat and will use that tonight. I don't need anything for pain as, unless I'm moving, I'm not really in much pain.

I was pretty much moving OK this evening so it is getting better. Sad to say my mobile is getting worse and I've just ordered a replacement as it's starting to recognise nothing as keypresses which can make it unusable.

I'm finding more and more sore parts though...

Yep, I know, we get up and the Adrenaline keeps us going through it. Although I did think, for a second, what have I done, when I couldn't get up. Followed by self castigation as I took my pack off and stood up.

I should have been able to pick the bike up though, no matter that it was lying on the ground, so that was the fist indication that I had problems.

I'll heal. The bike needs a whole new front fairing. Now I'm eternally glad that I bought the cheaper and more tatty bike. Most of the issues were with the fairing and seat anyway. So now I'm forced to upgrade it.#

Something to eat and then out to get some paint for Mrs S that I forgot on Saturday. More voltarol, just taken the next dose of ibuprofen and let's see how it goes.

Thanks Weka,

Mending slowly. I'm taking my time to get to work today. I decided the supreme effort of yesterday was one thing but I'm waiting for all the drugs and creams and so on to kick in before heading to work.

Deep heat was a good move.

On an interesting note with the high doses of ibuprofen I'm taking the pain in both my knees and both my feet has all but vanished. Not that I'll keep taking them, just nice to know.
