Morning all, it is dull here and there has been a little rain, but still quite muggy. We didn't get any thunder and lightning here but they did in other parts of the country. Michael is with us, a special treat day for him. Grandad is going to buy him a new bike as he has done so well learning to ride a bike, and his old one is a bit small for him. Then he is staying the night with us and we will go to the pub next door to eat, at his request. I better get moving so we can go out soon. Thinking of Gal, hospitals are so noisy :(

Morning :)

We had an absolute humdinger of a storm in the night, it even woke Bb up which is practically unheard of!
He went back to sleep though, and missed the second wave when the rain was nearly as loud as the thunder

Casualties were the bin which tipped over, lost its lid and got rained into, and the apple tree, a bit top heavy with apples and is now sprawled over the bench...

That's brill about the table and chairs Ria, our garden chairs came from the tip, almost new :) We had to pay for them though.

A new bike Osc, now that's exciting when you're Michael's age! I had one passed on from a cousin, got a brand new one when I passed the 11 plus :)

Having a quiet day today, will be packing and panicking tomorrow :)
Ally we're only going for two days but have the same problems of what to wear

Good luck with the search Kaz :)

Good morning all.

It's grey skies here, but no rain (yet).

We're having a quiet day here for a change!

Keep smiling !

What a nuisance Jan :(

(((Kaz))) lots of love to you xx

Ally, that sounds exactly like how we used to have to pack for our August Cornwall holidays when the lads were younger  I remember sitting on the beach one year and being really glad I'd packed my down-filled puffa jacket!!

Di, my bikes were always hand me downs from my cousin Kerry. I had my very first brand new bike when I was in my 30s

Michael must be so excited Osc! :D

Still no rain here as yet but it's gone very grey and it's so humid. I took Billy for a second walk when I got back from town, if it rains later then he won't miss out.

 Woke this morning and said to Mrs O "Well, we never got that forecast thunderstorm, then." "Yes we did, just before 3:00, you slept right through it!"  :D

To Shaftesbury to explore the bottom end of town. Website search for shoe shops threw up a couple of possibilities including Stead & Simpson, quite a big name in the West Country. After 5 minutes of fruitless searching, enquired in the local café. "Oh, they closed at least 9 years ago!" :o Basically, don't take the internet as gospel! Anyway we found another independent shoe shop and Mrs O purchased a pair of court shoes for just under £30 in the sale. The Ostrich looked at a pair of deck shoes to replace the ancient pair he uses around the house, and fled at the £99 price tag ....

Elsewhere, I went into WH Smith's looking for printer cartridges, armed with a 20% off voucher. The had the right make and specifications, but as I pointed out to the assistant, 20% off £35 is still far more expensive than the basic £22 I pay at a computer shop in Gillingham. "Ah," she said "but we also have a buy one get one half price offer on ..." Out with the calculator. £35 x 1 1/2 x 80% / 2 = £21 each. So I bought the two - but do you remember the days when life was simple and there used to be just single individual price tags and you didn't have to do complex mental arithmetic?

Back to the supermarket in Gillingham. Parked prettily and closed up the wing mirrors. As I walked away, a lady drove furiously into the bay next to me, got out, looked critically at her car's position - spread over two bays - ..... and then promptly picked up her shopping bags and made for the store! Takes all sorts, as they say! :D

Mrs O currently in kitchen working on a chilli con carne in the hope it'll score better than the average 0/10 awarded by Di for the last two evenings' meals ......

Enjoy your day, everyone.

Ossie   We can hold up score cards, like in the ice skating comps - 5 for technical ability, and 4.9 for artistic interpretation! :P ;) 8-)

My first thought was, so long as it's not out of a tin and has chilli in it, it's a clear winner :D
