Afternoon everyone.
Ria, I hope you have a good time with your friends.
Osc, that's a thought isn't it. You don't look that far forward at the time. Mrs S and I celebrated 30 years in 2017, we're both second marriages and only the kids were giving us more than 18 months when we married.
I finally arrived home at mid day having stopped at a shop to get some milk. I got about 1.5 hours sleep on the 4 hour ferry and had to stop and take 2 hours just south of Tours.
The boiler is on, the fan driven paraffin heater is on and I've shut to the windows in the top of the second house, seems they blew open in the storms we had. The temp in the house was 6c down in the hall.
All the stuff is out of the back of the car and the car is on ramps. I'm going to fit the towbar, hoover the car out inside the back and put my seats back in it from my old 807. Then I'm going to have a look at the devastation on the engine belly plate. I think they took it off with a chisel. I have my own one but I don't know how much work it's going to be to get it fitted and if I have time.
Then I'll look at my computer. Once all of that is done I have to get my Kilt and dancing stuff ready, any things I didn't bring from my "apartment" pack out the back over the workshop and get ready to leave tomorrow. I have to be out about 9am as the ferry is at 6pm out of Dieppe and I don't want to be rushing.
The journey was not too bad given the weather. Temps were 0 to -4. The only bad part was when I was overtaking a lorry and suddenly realised that the feeling of strong wind throwing the car around was actually incredibly slippery ice where the road had been snowed on, melted and then flash frozen. Makes things a bit more exciting than you really need.
Fortunately Mrs S bought an electric blanket last year. I'll be using it.
The weather and the conditions? Cold but not freezing. The ground is covered in about 2" of icy snow.
Have a great day all.
