Good afternoon all, it's a dreary and damp one here. It's milder than it has been though and supposed to brighten up this afternoon.
We didn't have any trick or treaters last night although there were loads walking past. We hadn't decorated though so that obviously makes a difference. John got surrounded by small children when he pulled the car onto the drive though, he said they were there before he'd even opened the car door and parents were standing just across engrossed in their phones. It's funny, when we first moved here all but one of the houses were decorated at Halloween but now the children have all grown up there were only two on the close who bothered this year.
We did have one unexpected visitor yesterday though, Tom's friend Jake called in for an hour. It's always nice to see him. He's the one who Tom and Shannon shared with last year, he's in the army and off to Sandhurst next year to complete his officer training. He's the loveliest lad (but obviously has the killer instinct
), always smiling. I feel a bit sorry for him actually, we met his parents for the first time in the pub before the graduation ceremony and his Dad was lovely and very like Jake, smiley, chatty and positive, but his mother didn't seem very nice at all. She gave off the vibe that she'd rather be anywhere else but there. I went to the toilets before we left for the theatre and she was coming out as I was going in and she just blanked me. I thought it was just me but speaking to Judi (Shannon's Mom) later she said that she'd been coming out of the toilets a few minutes before as Jake's mother was going in and she'd been blanked too. She also said that she'd been very unpleasant when they moved into the flat, making it known just how much trouble she'd gone to to help Jake move his stuff in.
Have a good day all!
