We've got a new scheme out today to redevelop our train station it even shows sea views got to laugh it's miles from the sea front the other side of town

Reminds me of the time just before the financial crash of 2008, when Wakefield council announced grand redevelopment plans, Saundra.
Part of it was a new development called Merchant Gate, full of flats bars and cafes. It's there and still half empty in 2019.
Another part was down by the canal. Again, to go along with the new Hepworth Art Gallery there were going to be many bars, flats and restaurants. Also, pleasure cruisers on the canal just like the ones that go up the River Seine in Paris!
Well, we were in stitches at work when we saw it.
Needless to say, there has been no development apart from the art gallery and no River Seine tourist boats either.

That apart Os, we had an "eastern relief road" built in Wakefield a couple of years since, skirting the city. Turns out though, it's not really a relief road at all. They are going to build hundreds of houses either side of the road. When that's finished the congestion on the Wakefield to Doncaster main road(A638?) will be worse than ever.

Bless. Another road to avoid, along with the A650 "roundabout alley" to the north and west. For those in the know the simplest and easiest route into Wakey is the old Batley Road. Thankfully it is so old and built up that there is not much scope to "improve" it.

We've got one particular road layout here where the A5, A34 and A460 all meet, there're also slip roads on and off the M6 Toll and a couple of retail parks built around it just for good measure. It's got to be the worst designed bit of road that you could imagine and has been rebuilt and changed a couple of times in the last 15 years since the Toll was built and it's still no better.

If that's the one I think you're referring to, Jo, I used to come off the M6 Toll there to access the A34 Walsall Road south into Great Wyrley (Wolverhampton Sporting Community FC in Hazel Lane being the attraction ). I remember it was a complete 'mare trying to get across the A5 traffic on the roundabout to get at the right exit. I think there was some sort of traffic light control system on it, but many people ignored it? Never liked that junction …..

Never braved that roundabout in the opposite direction - I used to go back home cross-country via Pelsall!

I was laughing about your pleasure cruisers down the canal...and then remembered that we've got canal boats for tourists around the canals in Birmingham.

There're now plans afoot to improve Cannock town centre (although a gallon of petrol and a match would be cheaper) with a 'destination, leisure and cultural area'.
Can't flippin' wait to see how this pans out
