Good morning Sunday

Good morning - overcast but brightening up later, in the afternoon, so we might postpone our walk until then, especially as there's now't on the Telly this evening.

Our next door neighbour is finally finishing off repairs to our dividing fence in the back garden, which originally became uprooted during Storm Dennis or whatever. We have a tree on our land at the front which is next to his front lawn (it's open plan) but he decided to take it on and prune it himself - only to find it had died. He had half suspected this, because they have already lost a tree of their own due to something called "honey fungus" , which I had to look up on the RHS website. They were a bit shamefaced and upset about interfering with our tree, and having to call round and make confession. We made light of it, no point making a big drama out of it, and in any event total removal seems to be the only way to stop the honey fungus spreading. We will leave the area fallow until next summer (recommended to help kill off the fungus) and then we will see about replacing it with a species which isn't overly susceptible to the fungus. We do have a quince nearby which remains healthy, and that's one of the shrubs that the RHS recommend, so maybe we'll get one of those.

Pork chops, apple sauce, spinach, broad beans (both bought "reduced price" last Friday ), gravy and a bakie for lunch. I dare not weigh myself these days ----

If your Grumpy's now a solar technician, Jan, he can come sort out our errant solar thermal panel! I'm still waiting to hear back from the installers.

Jo I had 'a virus' back in November, symptoms very much like Covid, but I don't think it was that as that was long before any news came out of China. Coughed for weeks and weeks, Christmas shopping was a nightmare!

It's cloudy and cool here too, we've even had a few spots of rain. We've ordered a Sunday lunch again, Tom will collect it at 1.45

I'm annoyed/cross as the blinkin workmen are STILL here, digging up the path outside!! The engine of the machine is running constantly. starting at 8 and going on till 4.30. I'm sure this would have all been finished had it not been for lockdown, but they did this initially in Feb, then covered over what they'd dug up, and now they're having to re-dig it!! My house is the closest of any to the pathway, honestly I'm so worried the vibrations of the digging somehow affects the foundations - you can certainly feel the house shake once they start!!

Just another thing to worry about

We've been out for a little walk round the park today. I can't bake anything as I had out on nearly half a stone when I got on the scales the other night so am very carefully watching what I eat. No cake or scones here, sorry T!

Jo, there are so many people who had bad “doses” just after Christmas, I’m convinced the virus has been around longer than we knew.

Yes, Mick was ill after Christmas with symptoms that fit Covid-19 to a tee. Dry cough, sore throat, temp that fluctuated, taking himself off to bed early every night - he said at the time it didn't feel like flu, although that's what we put it down to. I reckon if they ever get round to mass testing for antibodies there will be a lot more who've had it than expected

Jose Felipe came up on his weird grass cutting machine and all the grass and weeds in the field are now cut He's pulled it into rows and we will, no doubt, have more machinery soon, to bale it up.

Grumpy spent the afternoon watching him, I filled up one big bag of cut back stuff and then threw the rest over into the field.

Bit blowy on occasion and we have big fluffy white clouds.

And no ducks

Chicken in the oven, I've also got a bit brown
