We had the winds from hell overnight on Friday - apocolyptic!! We got off pretty lightly here, with only one roof tile off and nothing missing from the garden (I had put a lot of the furniture in the garage during the week, otherwise it could have been a different story) but elsewhere, there were several large trees down and many places have had no power since Friday night!!

Bit of a sad day yesterday.....Jen's cat Jack wouldn't come in when called on Friday night, yesterday he limped home, they took him to be checked over at the vet....J said he had very low heart rate and his temp was so low they couldn't take it (??) Evidently he had been in some sort of trauma, one pupil was larger than the other....they were advised to leave him at the vet for 24 hours to observe him. Couple of hours later, she text me to say he hadn't made it   I am devastated, as is she....he was only 2 and a bit - I can't believe he's died :( :(

Last night we were meant to be at Amy's hen night - a hotel nearby for a meal and a bit of a 90s vibe music wise.....18 invited, Jen didn't feel like it, and tbh, when she said this, I felt I couldn't face it either.....the groom's sister is isolating and his mum didn't want to risk the roads as they were pretty bad, so that was four down.....one bridesmaid was ill AT THE TABLE   ....and Amy clearly hadn't enjoyed herself as she left at 10pm. I know this as Donna has called this afternoon to drop Lily off for a little while and I got the gossip from her....really pleased I backed out now!! There is an afternoon tea arranged for two weeks time, at the venue, for close wedding party so hopefully it won't be too bad weather wise and we can all make it!!

Tom worked the farm this morning, special favour (he HAS been paid for his time for the last 3 days and tomorrow too!!) so I did some houseworky stuff, I am back to work tomorrow after my week off..... :? :?

Stay safe and warm all xxx

A lovely afternoon with friends and a surprise guest too

We'd had the starters of some gert lush cheese and presunto, when Jan walked in. Supposed to be in England for a friends 60th.

Because of the storm battering you lot over there, her flight as delayed by six hours and the resulting mess, plus the worsening weather, meant she'd be on the road or train and forget the party. So she got the next available flight back home.

The wind has now dropped, we'll be having cheese and biscuits soon and then an early night. Not used to this lunch lark

Lucky Fraggle! I'm glad you have had a good day Kaz.
Gal, sorry about Jen's cat.
We heard about the storm up your way Gal.
A friend of our daughter's had rented a cottage in Bambrough. They found the road blocked by a fallen tree and at least one large tree uprooted on Bambrough village green. On Friday night the wind blew the chimney stack of the cottage down.
They left early and got an Airbnb in Scarborough!
