For the last few days, we've been watching the news, as a lovely girl of 9 went missing.

Her body was found yesterday, half hidden underneath twigs and broken branches,

The step-father has been taken into custody, along with her mother.

The funeral was today and all the television stations in Portugal had it on the news.

Because of the nature of the case, the police were every good, made sure everyone wore a mask, but the whole village turned out.

So very very sad.

It's been heart breaking to watch. Such a pretty girl.

But the thing that really made us - and I imagine most of Portugal - laugh, was that one of the neighbours who was interviewed on television, wearing a mask.

Made out of elastic bands over his ears and a rather large cabbage leaf

Just catching up with this Jan - so sad, that poor girl. But do have to laugh at the cabbage leaf :D ; that is rather funny.

As for your neighbour, if nothing else his antics can keep you entertained during the lock down; better that some TV I'm sure

And as for the border closure, personally I think it's the right thing to do and they should do that here as well; only allowing essential crossings for goods / food etc - but not for tourism or business meetings. I'm curious just how the open border between France and the UK is going to work - I hope they''ll restrict that to ferry and chunnel crossings and not flights

You know the cabbage leaf might not be a bad idea - non porous, very 'green' (IE will decompose once used) and likely to not allow germs through. Mind you, I don't know how the man could breathe well enough when wearing it....

Hre was fine Gal  Used a piece of string to put around his ears. It was one of the January King leaves, covered his nose, chin and most of his face, but hey ho  Brilliant.
