Grabbed the usual 2pt flagon of red-top skimmed milk from Asda on Friday, and just noticed that instead of the usual "British Milk", it says:

WELSH MILK / Llaeth Scim

Not quite sure how Welsh milk has made it to a supermarket in North Dorset ....

Blasted rabbits

The other day, I found a small plant on the gravel, dug up from the "turning circle". I blamed Molly

This morning, three of them were up rooted and on the gravel

I-ve put one back in the circle and put the other two in a different part of the garden.

Rare bit of excitement - discovered yesterday we'd got a wasps' nest inside our brickwork, back of the house  . There was a small hole down by the damp coursing and they were flying in and out from there. The warmer weather was bringing them out and that's what made us aware of them.

Had to shift the patio tomato plants away from the hole, then called up a local pest controller this morning who said he'd come late this afternoon. He's just been and injected the insecticide, all reasonably straightforward. Said it was one of the most active nests he'd seen this year as they were probably making up for lost time. We're not to go outside for 24 hours, by which time the nest should have been killed off. His parting shot was to make sure we filled the hole in after a few weeks, as you'd be amazed how a mouse could squeeze in there ......

Cost was £60+vat; money well spent I think as he told us the nest could well double in size each week during the summer! :o

And excitement here too

We had a twister

Whizzed across from the field to our left, over our land and then into the pool  :o

The water almost came over the top, and we could see it going over the water.

Then it just disappeared

Jan, in the ME we knew them as 'Dust Devils'.

They would spring up from nowhere when the wind was right, twirl around a bit and create a funnel of sand dust, then, "pop", they were gone!
