:Hi: :Hi:

Ally, what a great find! I swapped over my old purse for a new one earlier this week, and found two old M&S gift cards in the back! Checked the balances online and there was £10 on one, and £11 on the other :Hi:

We have our Christmas festoon lights across the street again, the people who usually plugged them in moved this year but the new people are happy to carry on (there’s a separate meter as it was used for the previous owner’s business).

Anyway, the other day the new neighbour posted on the street WhatsApp group that he’s happy to cover the cost of the electricity as a thank you for being made to feel so welcome, but suggested that we all pay what we’d normally contribute to a charity instead.

Alison over the road started pushing an NHS charity linked to her work. She’s a transplant nurse. Now, I’m a bit funny about donating to charities where the NHS benefit, especially when I see blatant waste.
John’s sister is a ward clerk, she works full time but takes a book to read as she’s usually finished her work by lunchtime. Alison over the road works at the QE in Birmingham and as she works long shifts it’s felt that she shouldn’t be driving home afterwards (her choice not to live local to the hospital) so to get to and from work she’s usually picked up and dropped off either by a first responder car or an ambulance. When she moved in she sent a note around to all neighbours to say not to be alarmed if we frequently see ambulances at the house and explained why.

Anyway, I usually just go with the flow but piped up that I’d rather donate to an animal rescue. I thought I’d be shouted down, but long story short I was supported and it was decided that a small local rescue will benefit from around £300.

Good for you, Jo! A small charity is a better choice, IMHO :D

Well done you Jo - and agree. I was very kindly gifted a heated clothes airer and the person who gifted it said I'd maybe like to make a donation to a charity, she mentioned two that do foodbanks. Now I don't mind making a charitable donation, but dislike being told which one, so will be donating to the charity my vet is collecting for this year - providing food (and sometimes medical care) for the pets of homeless people.

And totally agree with your sentiments re the NHS charity Jo ;-)

Really pleased with my Tesco Clubcard bargain 8-) They do a doubling up of points value with various companies, and I managed to get the matching serving bowls to my new Denby dinner service using my points :D :D Really chuffed as they didn’t have them in the outlet shop where I bought the set :Hi:

That’s brilliant, must admit I never look at any other way to use points other than save them for Christmas but it looks like I really should
