We bought a load of plastic-coated clothes racks (around 10 of them) that simply hook onto the top of our central heating radiators in each room and allow us to drape things to be dried down the side of them ..... works well when we have the C/H on during the winter.
We have a sheila maid in the utility room and I put in a larger radiator than it would normally need to dry clothes. When we need more we put a portably drying screen in the downstairs hall in front of the Massive 4kw cast iron radiator. We decided, long ago, that we would not use a tumble dryer.
