All those aged between 16 and 18, as under 16 you are ok. Most of H's class were 16 by the time they went :)

All this nonsense would be addressed if we had citizen ID cards here, I think we ought to really :)

You don't! It's not required here.

Oh I agree. They are the law here. So easy to have in your purse/wallet and I've seen Spanish passengers using them to fly to the UK with Ryanair.

The Passport Office here has been inundated with people from the UK applying for passports since the Brexit vote! Used to be 10 working days when we were in the post office, then changed to 15 more recently - at the moment it is up to six weeks  We keep ours in our little safe and the EHIC cards live permanently in my purse.

That seems daft.

So if you're one day over being 16 you need id but not if you're aged 15 and 364 days.

Same here Osc - all personal documents kept in DVIB. That's Don's Very Important Box.

Residencia cards always in our wallets or in my case my purse.

Osc, I've read of loads of people applying for Irish Passports over the last few weeks! I'd do it myself but my Irish ancestry goes back to great great greats so I don't think it would work

It always seems ridiculous to me that we don't have ID cards here.

We came across a situation whilst trying to apply for a bank account for Tom for his wages to be paid into when he started working at McDonalds (he has a savings account which he's had from birth but the money in there isn't to be touched until he really needs it). Unless he stayed with Nationwide, who is savings account is with, he was stuck because all banks and building societies wanted current ID and at that time his passport had expired a year or two before and he hadn't got a driving licence.
