Someone pinch me!
Joe's just come down for the handheld Dyson - he's tidying his room. That's not the biggest shock though. He's disconnected his X Box and put it away in his cupboard as he doesn't use it
Never thought I'd see the day when that happened!

Just seen on the news that those in Bormes-les-Mimosas (France, Var) were evacuated to Le Lavandou Plage which is where we used to stay - seven years on the trot.

Coming home one year we had to make a detour because of the raging fires as our usual route would have taken us right through. The following year we drove where the fires had been from Pierrefeu to Collobrières to Cogolin. The fires had been set by an arsonist - a Grandmother and daughter from the UK died.

I would have burnt him at the stake.

There always have been people fascinated by fire :?

What happens here, sometimes, is that people, who have had no education, training and have no commen sense, want to clean their land and the best time to do that is in the summer, when it's dry.

Then it gets out of hand. :cute: :cute: :cute:

The law states that no eucalyptus should be grown within a certain area of main roads. Those poor people who died last month, the main road was surrounded by the trees - they had no chance at all.

We have a couple of smaller forests here and have to go past some of them to escape, but hoping that won't happen.

We have one helicopter from July until September, to cover Ourique, Castro Verde and surrounding areas - but it also doubles as an air rescue

I and many other people, would happily pay council tax if it helps the local situation., Our council tax of 39€ has been waived for 3 yars and then we've been told as it's so low, we won't have to pay it, for the foreseeable future

I'd much much rather pay 100€ a year to help out.
