The talk about Wetherspoons on the daily thread has reminded me of something that happened on Wednesday.

I checked our online banking and saw "Standing Order" £45.40. I know we have nothing going out of the account that is that amount. I checked the list of standing orders; we have none, just Direct Debits. I was really scratching my head about what it was, and starting to feel a bit concerned.

Then I had a lightbulb moment. John had taken the kids to a Wetherspoons in Edinburgh.
"Do you know if that Wetherspoons was once a bank?" I asked.
"Dunno" he said.
"Do you remember what it was called?"
"Oh. Yes. The Standing Order..."

Lord give me strength for just another 18 hours.

18 hours and the permanent residence of our en suite will be back in his own flat.

If he ever packs up his room that is!

We went for a lovely impromptu meal last night. We were both bored so decided to walk over to the Indian restaurant over on the main road. There's not a lot in this village - one pub, one hotel/bar, a guest house, a chippy, a doctors, a pharmacy, McColls and the CoOp and a fantastic Indian restaurant
Sunday to Thursday they have an offer on too. A starter, main with rice, naan bread, poppadoms, coffee and a glass of Baileys all for £9.99. John doesn't like Baileys so I get two
