Saundra, John's the same with the dentist. He passed out in the chair once, about 10 years ago now, and came round just as an ambulance was being called
So far this week, I've bashed my forearm against the fireplace and have a lovely bruise and the blood , fell over the back doorstep, fell over in the field - but I can excuse that, as it's very bumpy and then walked into the bathroom door
I've also dropped a lump of wood on me foot
Grumpy has always said that all the door frames should be padded - think the floor should be too
I always get my shoes from Hotters , and have done for years.
I have a pair of walking shoes that I can walk about on all day, and they are so comfortable that when I finally get home I often completely forget to change into my usual house shoes, until Mrs A complains!
There are no strangers here; Only friends you haven't yet met.
There is a real lack of shoe shops on the high street isn't there. In our small town we used to have Trueform, Clarks, Stead & Simpson and three independents. Now we've got Shoe Zone and Clarks and the tat that Asda and New Look sell.
I always used to take the boys to Clarks for their school shoes; they needed shoes that would last, that they could walk the 5 miles round trip to school and back in and we never had a problem with them at all but as they reached their last years at school they outgrew the school shoes range and adult shoes suitable for a teenage boy were upwards of £80.
Becky buys her work shoes in Primark! Not brilliant quality, but so very cheap that she can replace often! She is a size 8 with a wide foot. Her ankle boots with a fur cuff came from M&S and were considerably more expensive. Lots of shoe shops do seem to have disappeared - Ravels, anyone? - but our Debenhams still have several brands ie Faith
The Jones the Bootmaker branch in Cheltenham has closed It was in a prime position, on the poshest road (The Promenade) and that did surprise me, as if they couldn't thrive there I don't know where they would
