Our council tax is £1,554 per year and I'm struggling to think what we get for it. Mind you I did see two blokes "mending" potholes yesterday. This high tech approach involved hot tarmac and a spade. We haven't had our bill for next year yet but probably it will go up by 4.9%.

Just over £2k here :( Fortnightly bin collections, alternating with green bin (which costs extra :( ) and the roads here are appalling :(

Party over, oops outa time, I'm not gonna party coz its £1999.

Nearly £2k and what do we get? Bins collected on alternate weeks green / black, extra if you want a brown bin for garden rubbish. 20 mph speed limits enforced by humps, bumps, speed cushions, cameras and chicanes, but there is 'no money' to repair the increasing number of pot holes. Initiatives for all sorts of things that do not last five minutes before we get another one. I'd sack the council and install a co-operative management voted for by local people to serve the local people. Two terms max and on the average wage of the area - no 'fat cat' salaries.

Had a right faff getting a prescription.

I have to take penicillin daily but I'm also supposed to keep a pack of a broad spectrum antibiotic on stand by just in case. I checked the other day and the pack expired last month so I emailed the surgery on Wednesday and asked if I could get a new prescription written up. I also explained that I'm going on holiday this week so ideally wanted to have it ready to take with me.
Rather than prescribe the same one, the surgery's pharmacist called on a Wednesday afternoon and said that she just wanted to query the medication with the duty doctor, to make sure it was the right one.

I didn't hear anything else so emailed again this morning to check whether it was being sent to Boots for me to collect or if I was to collect the prescription from the surgery. I was sent a "Thank you for your prescription request, it will now be passed on to reception and will be ready in two working days....blah blah blah" standard prescription request email. I emailed again and this time got a call back.

The duty doctor had replied to the pharmacist but she finished work on the Wednesday at 4pm and only works Tuesdays and Wednesdays so she hadn't picked up his or her message so therefore this wouldn't be acted on until tomorrow when she's back working there. It'll then be in Boots pharmacy's inbox along with many more, all waiting to be made up.

I asked for the practice manager to call me but a doctor called instead. He was so lovely and so helpful and sent the prescription through to Boots while we chatted.
