I sent my sister some flowers, just to get the week of her wedding off to a special start. A friend was telling me the other day that she'd used Home Bargains flower delivery service for Mother's Day flowers this year and they'd been fantastic so I thought I'd give them a try (Al assured me that it doesn't say Home Bargains anywhere on the packaging).

I ordered 30 roses yesterday lunchtime and they only cost £15.99, they were delivered first thing this morning. Julie texted me when they arrived, saying that they're beautiful!

I am addicted to the place.

It has branded goods cheaper than a supermarket's home brands especially in cleaning product, toiletries, personal care, coffee, sauces and tinned foods.

Thankfully it is only 5 mins away.

In the last 24 hours we have had lovely blue skies and warm weather in the 20’s, then cat 2 cyclone strength winds, thunderstorms, hail and now having one of the coldest days in April ever recorded (currently 10). I’m sitting here in 3 jumpers and a knee rug freezing. We bought a heater today but that’s not helping much. Yesterday I was sitting on my deck (before the storm) in tshirt and shorts drinking coffee and working in the sun thinking life was bliss.

I’m grateful though. I have power. 1/4 of homes in Auckland are without power at the moment. The wind gauge at manukau heads recorded a wind gust at 213km!!! The sky tower was regularly getting 140’s last night. At times the whole house was shaking like an earthquake.

Further south the storm triggered 2 tornados. Unfortunately, 1 of these went through national park and our neighbours holiday home has been destroyed.
