Dad was on the convoys to New York for part of the war and fell in love with jazz blues The cabinet was filled with Billie, Ella, the Duke, Charlie Parker, both Fats', Dave Brubeck, Leadbelly and on and on.

I think that is why blue beat, rock steady, ska, reggae, ital and soul are my favourite types of music to this day.

I'm trying to think really hard what we grew up with and all I remember is a lot of classic music.

My first boyfriend was very much into the Michael Franks, Bread and Roberta Flack type music and it's probably still my favourite type of music. But then there are so many individual songs of artists I like vs the actual artist (if that makes sense). And dare I put my hand up and admit to not much liking Michael Jackson, George Michael or Prince?

I am not alone. :Hi:

We hated buying an album for just two or three tracks... then came the Sony Walkman (with record) and the world changed forever - build your own tapes with only the music you liked. Every cassette different from A to Z and person to person.

I was, and still am, very fond of Tamla Motown :D As well as Bowie, David Cassidy, and a lot of 60s stuff - especially The Kinks, and Small Faces :)

Kaz, I am a bit like you. The genres I mentioned earlier are definitely my favourites but I also like other stuff in the music spectrum from Classical to Garage and beyond. Nothing is "in" and nothing is "out", everything has its place - except Elvis and all that carp. ;)
