Why? They epitomised the desert that was 80's music. Suits with the sleeves turned up and spiky hair. Classy.

At the time I was living on Planet Earth. I was Hungry Like the Wolf to see some Girls on Film with A View to a Kill, possibly of Rio as she danced upon the sand. Save a prayer for me, but at that time I went My Own Way.

Never mind there will be a New Moon on Monday where my Notorious, Careless Memories, will coil like the Reflex of the Wild Boys watching the Union of the Snake.

I will admit though that every time they've toured since 1984, which was the first time I saw them live, I've seen them multiple times each tour plus one off shows like Hammersmith Palais when they recorded a show for Radio 2, but I've not bothered since 2008 because I'm sick of hearing the same songs live every time. I want to hear the album tracks, the obscure b sides (as do many others judging by comments on social media) and not the likes of flippin' Hungry Like The Wolf and A View To A Kill again and again.

The 80s for me were Duran Duran, Japan, Bowie, Blondie, Tears For Fears, Ramones, The Smiths, Madonna, Depeche Mode, Simple Minds, New Order and Wham
