The fire was brought under control at 2.05 this morning.

And a huge thank you to the team down in the Algarve, who monitor all the fires down there. They organised a van load of water, energy bars and other things needed and brought them up last night, for the bombeiros from Ourique, Silves, Messines, Beja, Almodover and everywhere else :Hi: :Hi:

What was mentioned yesterday was that the idiot responsible for the fire will probably go to prison, have a very large fine and will also have to pay for the operation yesterday and continuing today.

Complete dimbat Ria

We were sat outside, at the front, for a change, and there was a whoomph and a huge cloud o brown smoke came up  But there are still about 100 bombeiros there, so it was soon out.

The helicopter has been around this afternoon too. We don't normally get it until July, but for some reason, it arrived 1st June :D

The German guy on whose land the fire started is saying that his above ground pump - we never have above ground pumps here, because of the fire risk  - malfunctioned and that is what has caused the fire.

He's been arrested, released on bail  Investigations are continuing.

Gez was saying, and as she has the adjoining property, she should know what she's talking about, the previous owners spent a lot of money to make sure everything was fire proof, so no way would they have had an above ground bore hole pump. Ours is about 50 metres down, at least.
