It was raining too hard to hear anything at all, apart from the weirdo cuckoo type bird. Still chucking it down :Hi: but even though we had three layers on, we were getting cold

Hurry up Denny

Molly is getting rather fed up

And we're fed up, as we can only watch Portuguese tv :x

The bin cleaning men have just been round. What weather to be doing that job! Damp, freezing cold and they are working with water. They earn their money at this time of year.

They certainly do! Our man came around late yesterday afternoon, it was already turning frosty at that time.

Same with the postmen.

I wonder, does anyone ever tip these days? Back when I was growing up, we always gave Christmas Boxes to the binmen, milkman and postie …..

I don't even know if they are "allowed" to receive them these days; conditions of employment, taxable gratuities, so on.

I used to leave a small gift (box of chocolates or bottle of wine) for the milkman, postman and bin men but now only do for the milkman who has been delivering my milk since I moved to the house back in 2007. Problem is we now have various postmen that do the round so I'd have to try get something to them all (and they'd need to carry it on their round) and the binmen come a lot later in the day now so a) I don't see them as I'm at work and b) I'm sure a box of chocolates would be nicked by passers by if I left it out for them.

Blowing a hooley and a half here :o

We've moved everything that we think can get blown over, including bringing some plants inside. The lecky has already gone off once, so we've got a torch and candles ready, just in case.

Luckily, we don't have any big trees near us, as several have been blown over, but further up north. They've had it quite bad up there :o

We'll be having similar for the next 2 days
