one good thing came from the fires.
The Police Regional Command Public Security Madeira detected and seized several weapons and ammunition that were deposited illegally in the garage of a residence, by virtue of them are not registered or expressed.
The operation took place as part of relief operations and assistance to the population and as a result of steps taken by the Arms and Explosives Unit during the aftermath of the fires occurred in the city of Funchal.
Thus, the PSP seized, three shotguns class D; two weapons of the class C, and a .44 caliber and one .22 caliber; two guns of obsolete fire; an alarm revolver; four boxers; a disguised firearm shaped pen; three pipes of long firearms; 35 kgs of ammunition Class D of various calibers and brands; five pounds of fulminating; seven pounds of casings of various sizes; 132 ammunition of class B and B1 and 245 .22 caliber ammunition.
The statement sent to the JM further said that the seized material "remained the residence of a deceased citizen about 11 years and was stored without the minimum conditions of safety and packaging."
The process will the established legal procedures.
The Regional Command of the PSP Madeira recommends all citizens, when they are aware of ownership situations or illegal existence of weapons, contact, in the shortest time and by any means, any Police Station PSP in order to trigger the police intervention in time and in favor of better service to the community.

Vic, that is one hell of an amount of ammo for one person to have.

It just does not compute for us in the UK, but in other places... :roll:
