What a plonker!

The car was booked in for its annual service and MOT at 8 am so I was out just after 7 am to be there on time.

The paperwork took about 15 minutes followed by a gentle stroll to the bus station. I just missed the bus so decided on a paper and coffee to while away the half hour till the next one. Off the bus and walking home I get a text telling me to follow a link to the results of my car 'Health Check'. Well, I am nearly home, so I will do it there ... but wait!!! :o

Silly burger me has only left his house keys in the car's glove compartment!

I do not have the dealership main number and the text number is for outgoing texts only and I am wondering how the car is doing. I go to the local Co-op and PO to see if they have a phone book and am greeted with "What you like?" "Plonker!"....... Eventually an ancient Thomson Local is found and I get a few numbers for the dealership, one of which still works.

The health check is fine, the MOT is passed and the servicing is nearly finished so I can go back and collect. Another bus ride, another stroll to the garage and another lot of paperwork and the job's done.

An interesting morning for this "Rodney" and it's raining.

At least you knew where you'd left them!
I can't tell you how many times I come to leave the house and can't find my keys...only to realize after much running around and searching/panicking that I've actually put them in my bag

Here's one for you Frank. I get changed after the gym and often take a pair of zip up ankle boots to walk home in.
I keep forgetting to zip up the right boot. Always zip up the left, rarely the right. I leave the gym thinking my right boot feels a bit loose, look down and the zip's unfastened

My car is off for it's service on Tuesday and i've got notes all over to remind me to take the spare key for them because I collect the car after they've closed so need my own key. I would easily have done what you did Frank

and   Jo - that is funny

I always take a spare set of door keys when I take the car to be serviced. There is a set with the car keys which I never take off.
So I have never had this problem.
But had a senior moment yesterday afternoon. Doing some work on the shed. lost one of the screwdrivers. So got another one from the garage.
When I put the second one on the stool I was using as a small table for the tools I was using, there was the screw driver I thought had gone walkies.

Glad to hear the old car is still fit for purpose, but sorry about the key business.
