Does anybody know ...

... why my microwave has stopped working? It is only 15 months or so old.

It is a digital job. The clock works, so does the turntable, and it looks as though it is obeying my instructions to cook things my way.

However, it does nothing - cooking or defrost wise.

Am I in need of a new one or is there a fix?

I've never heard of this sort of problem before, so I haven't a clue.

Presuming the plate is still going round and it's making the usual noise,
couldn't you get in touch with the makers and ask their advice?

No idea Frank, but you'd expect it to last longer than 15 months. Contact the manufacturers and put that to them.
Was it an expensive one? Just thinking that a repair may cost more than the actual machine did?

An ASDA job, Jo and Aggers, I guess that a repair will cost more than a new one.

If it's not an expensive one, then I'd have thought that ASDA would be willing to either replace or give you a good discount on a new one. They'd prefer to avoid negative feedback.

I know you're not big on Facebook but if you posted on their FB page asking if they knew of a fix - I'd be surprised if they didn't offer to replace ;-)

It should last longer than 15 months though Frank, regardless of price, so you've got nothing to lose by contacting them and giving them a bit of the Frank charm ;)

Imagine it is a premature failure of the magnetron. They usually last ages but are available as a spare part though may cost more than a new oven.
