I am devastated. News is out that the Universe is expanding a lot quicker than was thought. It is now impossible to get to the edge of the Universe and look out - damn. And we are never going to get the Big Crunch either. I was so looking forward to being squashed to nothing.

Bloody astronomers! They have just ruined my day. I'm off for a pint.

To be honest, I think that grasping the make-up of the Universe is beyond the capability of us mortals.

For a start it must be infinitely large. It just can't end. If it does, what's at the other side of the 'end '?

I read the New Scientist every week, and the more I read about the Universe the more convinced I am
that we are wasting our time even thinking about it. Even the top experts in the subject can't agree.
