No quiz tonight so....

Postby Workingman » 07 Oct 2016, 19:18

.... TV being carp I am off to YouTube for an 80s mix.

I have Scritti Politti, Simple Minds, Propaganda, Thomson Twins, Tears for Fears, Prefab Sprout, Jonny Hates Jazz, Howard Jones, Bronski Beat, Level 42 and so many others lined up.

80s heaven. Britpop at its finest.

Notice no Wham!, Duran Duran, Pet Shop Boys, Spandau, Human League etc. ;)

Let the music begin. :D :D :D

Some good stuff there Frank, really good stuff. Friday nights are usually our Youtube nights too.

The Hurting album by Tears For Fears is one of my all time favourites.

No Duran Duran though?
Having said that, I used to see them every tour, multiple times, and had done since the early 80s but I'm boycotting them until they shake up the setlist and drop at least some of the hits. Their album tracks and b-sides are far better.

Jo, I have always been 'out there' when it comes to music. Mainstream has never interested me.

I am now in the 60s, Buffalo Springfield and all that. ;) :D :D

You know, a casual acquaintance would never realise that I love Duran Duran - I roll my eyes and switch the radio off if one of their hits comes on
My favourite is a 1988 album track, The Edge Of America. Not electronic and not at all 'poppy', I don't think it would've got anywhere near the charts if it'd been a single release. Actually the two tracks that come before it are huge favourites of mine too ("Land" and "Palomino") and neither of those would be what people expected from them either.

I refound Propaganda - Duel.

The first cut won't hurt at all
The second only makes you wonder
The third will have you on your knees
You start bleeding, I start screaming

Wow! :D

That is one of my all-time favourite songs, Tom claimed my 7" single for his vinyl collection.
