Yep I thought of this. Weka's north Island and Well north of that too. Christchurch is south island and about a third of the way down. Should be free of any Tsunami issues.

Weka, hope your family and friends are safe. It seems to have been another pretty bad one.

All good here in Auckland, though some claim to have felt it this far north. Poor kaikoura (pronounced)= Kai (rhymes with )my, cow ra. So many aftershocks. A m4,5,6 every 10 mins.

Awaiting to hear from close friends of us, A's the local policeman, so will be flat out, and his wife V has a 2yr old to look after.

Another 4.1 while typing this.
And now a sever weather watch is on the area.
