Weather and TV!

Postby Workingman » 21 Nov 2016, 17:42

We are having some strange weather, and the TV signal keeps going haywire. :o

The rain is lashing down, but the wind is all over the place. Sometimes it is deathly quiet, then in an instant is it howling a gale... or stronger!

With the old analogue you could still watch, sort of. With digital either the sound goes or the picture freezes and breaks up.

Looks like I will be on catch-up on the internet for a while. :D :D :D

Yes, WM, same here .... the frames kept freezing this evening on both BBC and ITV channels.

We are keeping an eye on the River Stour nearby. What was a babbling brook is now three times the width, and in spate; starting to overflow on the adjacent meadowlands. They have put up flood warning signs by the bridge just down the road, it seems the river has started flowing "round" the bridge (and over the road) rather than through it.

Ours was playing silly beggars earlier too - totally agree about the old analogue and I said the same to B, who of course rolled her eyes at me!  ;)

Same for us, so we turned over to solar and although there wasn't a huge amount of sun, if any, for most of the day, it was bright enough for us to have lecky.

Can't say the same for the wifi :cute: :cute: :cute:

For our tv, it depends on which way the wind is blowing onto which dish

The wind seems to do the most damage, same as Ton's problem... I am same as Saundra with Freeview as some of the minor channels have gone completely.

Ossie, you watch out for that river as once the banks go things turn very quickly.

It has quietened down a bit now and things are getting back to normal... I'm a Sleb is on!

I was going to say that I hadn't noticed any problems here but then Netflix has been on for most of the time that the TV was on when it was really bad so as long as we've got the internet connection that's okay.

We struggle with the signal here at the best of times though. Analogue radio and DAB can be pretty hit and miss. Mobile signals are terrible. John and I are on different networks but both frequently have no signal in and around the house (but stand in the middle of the woods and I can get 4G)
