Do any of you play it? Just wondering if the payouts are as often / good as they seem to make out

If the raw numbers are anything to go by it costs £10 per month for one ticket - about 32p per day. You can buy more tickets. There are roughly 30 million postcodes in the UK so 1:30,000,000 chance of winning. Prizes range form £10 to a share of £3 million once a month.

The lottery takes in about £15m per month and pays out roughly £5m to charities. There is also the potential to pay out about another £5m in prizes, that leaves approximately £5m to run the draw and the website and for advertising.

I think that I have identified the real BIG winners. ;)

No harm in playing for 32p per day, it is a bit of fun, after all, but I think that I will stick with Premium Bonds.

Like all forms of gambling, there's only one winner in the long run .......
