Drama here last night!

We were all watching the early evening news just before 6, and I was just thinking about getting changed for Pilates when a sudden sharp hissing noise made us all jump - it was hot water spurting from the radiator   I immediately yelled "My new carpet!!" and leapt up to grab some towels while Mick plugged the hole with his finger!

Luckily we got the valves switched off pretty quickly, mopped up the small amount of mess, and Mick went out and got a new rad from Screwfix! I still got to Pilates as my friend piuckjs me up, and Mick had fitted the new rad by the time I got home, but what a shock  We were so lucky that it happened while we were there, and not out, or asleep! :( No idea what caused the tiny hole either :?

That reminded me of the story of the boy who stuck his finger in the dyke and saved his country.

A lucky escape :D :D

Similar happened to a friend last week - they were out for the next three hours and the water was cascading down the front steps when they returned

A lucky escape indeed........BUT.....if all the radiators are the same age ?/ beware, it might be an idea to replace them one at a time and spread the cost.

It maybe costly but much cheaper than to have another go similar and the resulting mess and expence.

The rads in our bungalow have been in since it was built in 72/73 and we have replaced 4 so far still got 5 to go, then it is a new boiler sometime, so hopefully we make the oil go further than it does now when all is done, plus hopefully it will add value to the property.

Manxie xx
