Marbles, the losing of.

Postby cromwell » 16 May 2017, 13:43

This weekend I arranged with a friend for him to come round to our house and pick up some bits and bobs at 5pm Sunday.

Quarter past five rolls round and I remember a couple of things. Firstly, I hadn't told him where I lived. Secondly, he hadn't asked me where I lived (my wife says this is typical of men).
So anyway, phone call made and we sorted it out.

Monday I went to the local club with a package for Brian, another friend (he doesn't do the internet so I'd ordered it for him). He wasn't there. There wasn't anyone there who knew his phone number either. So I went home and thought "I know, I'll ring up Ernie - he'll know Brian's number". He didn't, but I know that I'd rung Brian up once, before I'd lost his number. Where had I got it from?

Then I remembered - from the notice board at the club, which I'd been sitting next to for two hours...

I'm blaming it on something in the water..

I know I shouldn't, but

but believe you me, if I don't reconfirm things 3 or 4 times (even if only in my head) then I'd be exactly the same

Ria, I'm the same. I'm forever writing notes and lists so that I don't forget things.

I'm glad I'm not the only one with a short-term memory.

It's so annoying to go to anther room in the house for something, and then have a short
conversation with the wife, with the result that I haven't a clue what I came in for.

But my head is absolutely full of out-of-date and irrelevant facts and figures from my
youth, like 40 pence are three and four pence, and 1930's songs that no-one else
has ever heard.

It's a pity we haven't got a sort of Recycle Bin.

Same here, especially shopping lists (we have individual ones for each local shop!), but the problem then is that I go down to the supermarket without the relevant list ........
