Why ?

Why, I must ask, do we have to tolerate some of the useless Judges in this country?
I am shocked to read today of the three Supreme Court Judges who have ruled that the parents
of a baby son cannot send him to the USA for medical treatment for a life-threatening condition,
in spite of the fact that 83,000 supporters have donated over 1.3 million pounds for that purpose.
Why they have done it - it's no doubt their way of supporting the decision of previous fellow judges.
If there is only a slight hope of a cure for their son, surely these parents should be entitled to go
ahead with it. What is the motive for denying it?
Judges? - If I was Dictator I'd sack the bloody lot. They are only over-promoted solicitors, anyway.

I feel very sorry for the judges as it is not a simple black and white case, and the fact that supporters have raised £1.3m is irrelevant.
The poor mite has a condition that will leave him disabled for life, even if the experimental treatment offered in the States works.
My brother was born physically and mentally handicapped due to mum contracting diphtheria when pregnant. He was much loved by us all but required 24/7/365 care. He died aged 32 when he was only given six months to live at birth, and none of us would have wanted it any other way. However, we can only imagine how different our lives would have been had he passed away as a baby.
I do understand the emotions and turmoil of the parents, but through experience I can stand back and take another view. I do hope that this does not offend anyone.

Frank, I agree with Ally; definitely no offence taken
The judges will not have made this decision lightly

I also tend to agree with these judges, there should be the hope for some quality of life for this poor little mite, and the doctors and judges must have looked into this very closely.

All right. I'll shut up.
But you won't make me change my opinion of the Judicial System.
--and I think Courts should be there for criminal offences, not for dealing with medical business.

Nobody is telling you to shut up, John, far from it.
All I was doing was offing an opinion based on my experience of living with a brother who grew up needing constant care.
As for the courts.... I am tempted to agree regarding medical matters. We probably need specialist medical courts staffed with medical expert judges to deal with such things. Unfortunately we have one system to work with and it is not ideal.

Shell, "guided by" is not the same as actually being an expert, and all I am thinking is that some cases are not suitable for criminal courts and judges.
I might be wrong, it is just a suggestion.
