Do you have nicknames for people...

Postby JoM » 18 Sep 2017, 12:16

...who are totally unaware of them?

Just reading the random thread and Jan's mentioned someone local who has a few nicknames.

We've got 'The Nobodies' living across from us. Called that because they used to speak to no one when they first moved in. They're actually really nice though. I see him out jogging when I walk Billy before 7 and he always speaks, or waves if he's in the distance. I've walked Billy with her and their dog on occasions. Lovely people but the name's stuck  If I now referred to them as Julie and Andrew, John wouldn't have a clue who I was talking about.

Smokesalot lives around a corner. A woman who is never seen without a cigarette.

Morrissey the Consumer Monkey walks his dog on the common every morning. So named after a Vic Reeves Big Night Out monkey puppet from years ago. The dog walker has the same hair, teeth and glasses.

No we don't, but we do refer to lots of people via their dogs, because we know their names before the owners :D

Next door is Dangerous Brian, because he talks non-stop, about the workings of a washing machine or his chickens, ducks....

A lady who has lived here for heaven knows how many years is Miss America, because that's where she comes from.

We used to have quite a few when we lived in England.

Woggle Eye - as one did

Will have to try and remember the rest ;)

Lol Saundra

I can't think of anyone for whom I, or we, have a nickname.

In my younger days (very younger) I used quite a few, but they are to naughty to tell you now.

Funnily enough, we use more nicknames when we're texting. We use emojis to identify folk.
My sister, ex-copper, has a policeman. One of my friends, who is never seen without a titfer, has a top hat. And Mrs O, who has an ancient sheepskin jacket to keep warm, is a llama! :D
