A bit of a - whatever it is.

Postby Workingman » 13 Oct 2017, 10:57

I have been in a bit of a state these last few months with the labyrinthitis and back problems, then three weeks ago on Satuday I fell down the stairs - not all of them, just a few.

I had been decorating and was taking another load of rubbish out to the bins when the door started to close. I tried to knock it back using the stuff I was carrying, slipped, and the rubbish jammed under my arm. It hurt to begin with but wore off.

On the Sunday I noticed stains on the bed sheet, but when showering could see nothing but a bruise. On Monday evening there was this horrendous smell, and I do mean putrid, so on the Tuesday I went to the minor injuries unit.

The nurse told me that I had a puncture wound in my armpit and that if I had come in straight away they would have put a couple of stitches in and sent me on my way. How it did not bleed, given all the vessels under your arm, is a miracle / mystery. Now. however, the wound would have to heal naturally and would need a dressing changed every day.

It is getting better but Cath, nursey, has booked me in for another two weeks of daily dressing changes. A swab was taken last Friday and the resuls came back clean, which is a relief.

If I appear to have been away, ingnoring things, been a bit tetchy or rude then I do apologise. It is just that life has got me down these past months and having to go to the clinic every morning isn't helping.

Tough luck, Frank ... at least the wound isn't infected so that's one relief.
