Your favourite apple?

When I was a young lad I had three: Cox's, Granny Smith and Russet. Then I became a victim of the supermarkets and if it had not been for Braeburnes I would have virtually stopped eating apples. In came bags of pap called Golden Delicious and other now forgotten varieties, but the pap continues to this day with Gala and Pink Lady and other such abominations.

Then today I saw a stall with gert big beautifully flecked Cox's. I now have a big bag, but they won't last long. They're mine, all mine.
:Hi: :Hi: :Hi:

Defo a Granny Smith eater here.

Sadly, Gladys is not a lover, so I have to peel it - not the same

With my knees a gentle stroll would keep you miles ahead...

Jan, I am glad not to have a Gladys. When I eat an apple I really do eat it. All that is left is the stalk - skin. core and pips all make it to my tum!

I eat more bananas than any other fruit, but do eat a couple of apples most weeks :) I prefer a Cox's or Braeburn, I find Golden Delicious a bit insipid ;)

Used to buy Golden Delicious but like you, Kaz, found them a bit too insipid, to be honest. These days, we are regular Braeburn eaters here; we usually get a bag a week. We read somewhere that of all the apple varieties, they are one of the most healthy / nutritious ones.

And you can't beat a good old-fashioned Bramley for cooking. Pork chops this Sunday evening with home-made Bramley apple and cider sauce ..... :D
