The Union Jack club is full tonight. So yesterday I booked a double room at Victoria Apartments. Good deal and booking.com took my card details as always.
Today I received my invoice and thought nothing about it as I had paid (thought I) and I had until 10pm to get there.
So after work, off I headed to pick up an Amazon parcel. When I got out of Holborn station I received a message that they had cancelled my reservation. No answer on the phone so I checked the Invoice to find a PayPal link in it. Seriously unamused I stood on the street and searched for another hotel. Booking.com found me St Joseph hotel near Earls court. Off I went on the Picadilly line and found the hotel. Checked in and headed upstairs to find a Police crime scene on the Second floor and signs of blood on the carpet.
I had to give my name and room then headed up to my room on the third floor. To open the door and find the en suite smelling like a sewer.
Well it's only for one night. I headed out for food and heard, at the Kebab shop, that someone had died in the hotel over the weekend and there was suspicion of Murder.
I checked the local news and, sure enough, that was what it said.
Oh well, back to the club tomorrow, at least it will smell OK.
