Still quite dark but it's dry and not too cold.

It's Monday so it's early yoga, then coffee, followed by the hospital for bloods.

The chilli made in the slow cooker yesterday was a big success. I left the beef in two big pieces, then once cooked lifted it out, pulled it apart and mixed it back in
Loads left!

Not too bad here today and a bit warmer.
Up early to put the bins out as dustman have altered their round.
Son on his way to Barcelona for a one day business trip.
He is hoping for a bit of sunshine.
Must get parcel off to NZ today then go shopping for a tree.
Don is going to try his new grab rails out and see if it s easier
to get down the garden.

Another sharp frost but the sun will soon melt that. Have protected some of the more vulnerable plants, but the potato plant is too big to cover and is suffering badly

WW for me this morning (yikes!) then a mooch round afterwards with E and J I have a couple of old coats to take in to the meeting, for someone who is collecting for the homeless mission. They are far too big for me now

Good morning all, we've got another damp and dreary foggy start here.

John's alarm woke me at 5, he had to get up early to drive to Winchester for a meeting so will have a very long day. I went back to sleep for an hour and then got up to walk Billy. It was really really horrible out in the fog and the torch wasn't much use at times. Saw something odd when we were walking back though. It was quite a bit lighter and we were on the path which curves around the top of the old quarry. I could make out someone walking towards us with what looked like a large dog and as it wasn't running around I assumed it was on it's lead so put Billy on his. When we got up close it was a man pulling a large suitcase on wheels. All very strange as it's not exactly a short cut between two places. He started chatting so I figured that seeing as Billy was wagging his tail and enjoying a fuss off him he wasn't going to murder me.

Anyway, I've made coffee and I'm now waiting for a selection of parcels to be delivered. I ordered four things from Amazon and selected a nominated day delivery, thinking that everything would arrive together seeing as Amazon were supplying all. I had the delivery details yesterday and Amazon are delivering one item, DPD are bringing another and Royal Mail are delivering the other two so that's thwarted my plan to make things easier!

I've got plenty to keep me occupied anyway. I can get the presents wrapped and there are cards to write too, I did the Christmas tree in the upstairs living room last night and Joe said he'd help me with the one downstairs today.

Kaz, that's a lovely idea about the coats.

Di, chilli is fab in the slow cooker. I always make it with chunks of beef now rather than mince.

Sigh, cannot believe it's Monday already - the weekend whizzed by and I've still got loads to do. This time of year I do struggle a bit with the shorter daylight hours as there were a few things I needed to do outside but just didn't get round to. And next weekend is going to be a very busy one so that'll be a bit of a problem as well - oh well.

Kaz, good idea re the coats. I need to do a sort through my wardrobe as there are a few things I don't wear and I'm sure they'd be put to good use elsewhere
Jo, did you figure out what that man was up to with the suitcase? Maybe he'd hidden a body in there Hopefully all the parcels turn up asap and you can have the rest of the day to yourself
Di, enjoy your day doing all the bits and bobs
Lissie, hope the grab rails do the trick and make life a bit easier for Don
Jan, could you not put an old sheet over the potato plant? I know your climate is a bit different to here, but is it normal to have a potato plant out now? Wouldn't you wait until spring?

We'll try that Ria. It's in the garden, not a pot. It died back last year as we had rather hard frosts, this year aren't quite so bad. We discussed getting some sacking and will be on the look out for some. But the frosts are very early this year, so caught us out

Jo I usually use chunks too, either pork or beef.
This pack was a reduced bargain and in two big pieces.
I was about to cut it up when I had the idea of leaving it, so pleased I did as it was much easier to pull it apart once cooked.
I put it back in for about half an hour, so the flavours mixed in nicely
