Thank you all so much for thinking of us xxx

They left at 5.50 to be sure to get to the hospital safely and on time, they had to be there for 7. It's probably not even 10 miles away but the roads are horrendous.

John texted me and they're all checked in, vitals have been done and he'll be going into theatre at around 11. The surgery should take around 2 hours and John's going to call me when he's taken down and I'll slide down to the bus stop and meet him in the hospital cafeteria to wait. I didn't go with them as I'd be sitting somewhere on my own until John joined me so I've stripped Joe's bed so that he comes home to nice clean bedding.

Just an aside, I'm amazed at the advances in surgery in the last 15 years since I had the same op! I was in surgery for over 4 hours, have a 7" scar and then spent a week in hospital afterwards. Joe's going to be left with a few little incisions and is provisionally booked in for one night.

I'll keep you updated!

That's brilliant about the operation Jo isn't it, so much less risk of infection too x

Is it keyhole then Jo? I've had several keyhole surgeries, recovery is so much quicker but be prepared for shoulder pain and lots of wind afterwards  It's the gas they pump into the tum so they have a clear view  ;)

It's almost 11 now, and I'm thinking of you (((((x)))))
