Plastic Bags

Went to Tesco this morning.
Saw one of the assistants who was collecting items for an order. She got two packs of cans of beer and put each one in individual plastic bag.
The cans are already held together by a plastic holder.
The twp bags were then put in a large plastic box with other bags.

That is pretty bad I never go anywhere now without a fold-up bag in my handbag, and we keep quite a few in the boot of the car

When you have an online delivery like I do you pay 40p for your order to be delivered in plastic bags if not it's delivered in the carry baskets they put freezer stuff in separate bags and bleach is separate bags as are fresh stuff it's usually well separated I have to say plus you can give the delivery man all the bags you have empty next time they call I always take bags with me when I go shopping anyway

Ah well, if you give them back at least they get recycled

I only do one one line at morrisons a month and one at Iceland just get heavy stuff mostly and use some of the bags in my wheelie bin don't buy the big black bags so I do my bit I see Iceland are cutting right back on plastic package anyway which is good

Like Kaz, I've got a fold-up bag in a pouch in my anorak pocket (the Ostrich's equivalent of a handbag ). We have acquired about a dozen bags for life from various supermarkets, and yes, I have had them exchanged for free when they've developed splits or a plastic handle's gone. These we keep in the car for basic shopping trips. All plastic containers, bottles etc that can be recycled, we rigorously do. I'd say we manage to recycle far more stuff than we put in the "household" bin each fortnight.

I always use bags for life when I'm out shopping as well iv never exchanged one tho if they break
My bugbear is all the plastic wrapping on stuff I do recycle everything tho never much in my green wheelie bin to go to landfill It's all the plastic and stuff that goes in to the sea that upsets me

We have a foldup box and a couple of bags in the car for the weekly shop. We have been paying for our plastic bags here since 2002, so bringing a bag of some kind when going shopping is second nature.

If I know I'm going to be shopping then I take my bags. I have two lots in the utility room - some for the main food shopping and some for if I'm just running into town for a few bits. The only reason they're separate is that I bought a couple of smallish hessian bags from Poundland (around 12"x10" and very cute with pink polka dots on them) and my other bags for life are folded and kept them in those, depending on what I'm shopping for they're just ready to grab and go.

I have an emergency fold up bag in my cross body bag too. It was £1 from Ikea and is brilliant, its large and the handles are long enough that it can be carried on my shoulder.

I have 2 of the Hessian bags from morrisons as well very comphy to carry
