Scissors and superglue.

Do not try this at home.

I could not get the top off a previously opened tube of superglue, err it was glued shut. I could feel that there was fluid in the tube, but how to get it out?

Cuttng the tube with scissors seemed a good idea. Do that, get a blob of glue, do the repair and throw the tube bits in the bin - job done, so that's what I did.

I have just been to use the scissors to get into the new three-pack of superglue tubes and the blades are stuck.... solid. Oh, the irony is killing me.

So the open and run under water didn't occur until After you shut them an put them away???

Put on a flat surface, tap gently along the flat of the blade with a hammer. Try to open again...

Ah well.

Superglue doesn't adhere to metal that well. We proved that in the Army pretty comprehensively. It can't withstand a sharp blow at 90deg. Bit hard to do with scissors though. I guess buying new one's is not that onerous.

I, on the other hand, don't glue them together. I just go to a new apartment expecting them to be there, not bringing my store of about 10 pairs, then have to go to PoundLand and get another pair..... As I had to this time...

Of course my Army mantra comes into play here. If at first you don't succeed, Hit it Harder. If that does not succeed, get a Bigger Hammer. I used to have a "personal" 14lb sledge hammer. I picked it out of the scrap bin where it had been dumped because someone had shattered the shaft. I cut the shaft short and it fitted perfectly between my wrist and elbow. Excellent for getting below a 10T truck and "persuading" a component to come off.

After all, what did you have to lose? They were a replacement item in either situation...
