That heart-stopping moment ......

...... at the supermarket check-out when you realise you've dropped your car and house keys .... :o As happened to me this morning.

It's got a Waitrose card fob on the key ring and I knew I'd last used it at the cafeteria. I enquired at the cafeteria and customer services but no-one had handed anything in.

However, in between times, I'd left Mrs O to have a browse round the store whilst I had high-tailed it across to the Post Office to renew the Road Tax. Raced back there - and yes, they had them behind the counter. Blessed relief!

In a way, this has been an accident waiting to happen. The trouble is I have one of those Rohan outdoor coats, and fitted inside the pockets are all sorts of strange cord-lines and toggles. Things get snagged on them, and it is easy to accidentally pull things out without noticing. I think for safety's sake I'll be snipping off the cords in future .....

Men's jacket pockets and car keys, what can I say?

Put a man in charge and they are the perfect combination. Not.

Glad you got them back, Ossie.

Losing my keys is something I have always dreaded.
I always keep mine in a trouser pocket, on a key-ring together with an "Acme Thunderer" whistle
(remember them?) that I've had from when I was a lad, (just in case I should ever need to get help).
