I got a birdie

Driving up the M6 yesterday evening I hit a pheasant which was walking across the road. I was on the inside lane and couldn't move into the next lane due to the volume of traffic. Didn't see it as there was a lorry in front. I thought I had run over it.
When I got off the motor a car stopped me to say I had a bird stuck in the grill on the front. The head was stuck inside the
horizontal bars of the grill with the body and legs sticking out.
I left it there until I was ready to come home. Pulled it out and put it in a large bag which I had in the boot. Stopped at a service station and put it in a bin. It was dark so no one could see what I was putting in.
Can see a few feathers behind the grill when I looked at the front of the car as I was going for the papers.
