things not to do in public

Just reading on a FB page about someone eating a tin of mackerel fillets in tomato sauce whilst on a busy commuter train; and another person commented on the same post that they once saw someone flossing their teeth on the train. Now I was bought up fairly strict and was always taught that you should never do your nails or make up in public - topping up lipstick is fine but that's about (personally I would never do my make up but find it fascinating to watch others in the morning)

Also, don't sniff - always have a hanky / tissue with you and blow your nose. Don't talk when you've got food in your mouth; nothing is that urgent that people need to see your chewed up lunch

I know sometimes needs must but my colleague will often grab one of these dental stick things that have the floss ready built in (not sure what they're called) and floss her teeth at her desk - it just freaks me out; so grim. Certain things you just do out of public view - go to the loo's and do it there

What are your pet peeves

Too many to mention, I'm afraid !!! I had parents who really taught me the proper way to behave.

It does seem to me that that sort of parental involvement in bringing up children is now very rarely exercised, which is a great pity.
I did not resent their involvement in teaching me the acceptable way to behave in public, and throughout my adult life I have been
very pleased that they had done so. I guess there is so much technical gadgetry around today, that is making it difficult for parents
to find time to spend on training there children, and the fact that it is much more common for both parents to go out to work does
not help .

There is an article on today's DM about someone making comments in a cafe to a young mother who was feeding a baby. I can see nothing wrong in this as it is a natural thing to do. Do people not realize that there are germs in toilets which could harm the baby. I would suggest they go and eat their food in the toilets.
Many years ago took our grand daughter into a baby changing room at a well known store. A lady was breatfeeding her baby. I offered to go out but she insisted I stayed.
I agree with everything merias has said.
Ablutions such as washing and cleaning teeth are done in the bathroom, Eating is done at the dinner table. Make up is put on in front of a mirror in the bedroom or bathrom.

I can't really think of any major "peeves" to be honest, but I do find it difficult when a stranger tries to stop me to talk to me or engage me in conversation in the street, whether it's a chugger or a weirdo (plenty of those in Birmingham on a Saturday evening) or someone else.

I ought to be more chilled out about it, I guess ….. :|

Oh God!

My mind went into overdrive when I saw this. :o

When in a shopping centre in the SoF with a group of early and pre-teens, DO NOT do the Pink Panther dance if the musak plays the tune, and stay well away from Dancing Queen (singing) if you cannot hit the high notes.

If you really must make sandwiches for a long journey on public transport (trains, planes and coaches) please stay away from egg or fish based delights.

Buy new trainers and socks and soak you feet in household bleach before you board the train, plane or coach. Thank you so much.

People yelling into their phones, "I'm on the train/bus/whatever" at the top of their lungs! :cute:  we know you are sunshine we're sitting right next to you! Also, please do not share last night's exploits with us, I'm no prude, but have heard youngsters sharing details that would make a sailor blush :?
