Oh dear - 3x over!

A close relative was stopped on her way home from the supermarket and the test showed her to be 3x over the limit. This is in the middle of the day! What was she thinking?
She reckons that supermarket staff could have reported her, but get this, it is
their fault she was stopped!
Some people! If the supermarket staff did grass her up then good on them.

It probably was the supermarket staff and good on them.
3 times over in the middle of the day? What was she drinking, as well as thinking?

I loathe anyone drinking and driving.
Selfish idiots.

According to one unit calculator she had drunk a bottle of wine or 1/3 bottle of spirits or equivalent.
She will definitely get 10 points and a 1 year ban, but she could also get up to 3 months inside and a fine of up to £2,500. Oh, and her insurance premiums will skyrocket.
I have no sympathy.

No excuse for drink/driving at all - but indicative of some greater problem in her life, perhaps? Do you know her that well, WM?

Although the police here are really hot on drink/driving, they turn a sort of blind eye to us lot who live off the beaten track. As long as you don't hurt any-one, put the car/truck in a ditch, then they tend to turn a blind eye. But only from the bar in our hamlet to our way. Anywhere else, you're toast.
The licence can and will be taken away from anything from 3 months to forever- and the car confiscated, never to be returned.

Ossie, I have known her all my life... I am older than her.
She has just retired. Boredom? Stilll no excuse.
Jan, you are so far out in the sticks on an "unadopted" road that I can understand a bit of 'blind eye', doesn't make drinking and driving right, though.

See, I get what Jan says as the road where we live is a bit hickey.
But, I still would never drink and drive.
Not that we'd be likely to encounter a neighbour. We'd more than likely hit a cat, dog or flippin deer!
I am so against alcohol and driving.

So if I want to have a beer down at the bar - which is along a 2.5 km hilly dirt road, then another 2.5 kms along a tarmac road, I'd have to walk back?
I do not agree with getting piddled and then driving, not at all, but 3 beers - 33 cl bottles - and driving back, not seeing anything or anyone, here, I can't see a problem. We'd be under the limit anyway.
